- Make sure that you have enough money to cover not just your planned expenses but also just in case something unexpected happens, like you need to book an earlier flight, or extra accommodation.
- Get the appropriate travel insurance to cover you whilst you are visiting Canada.
- Be aware of where the British embassy is (or your relevant embassy if you are not British) and keep a record of their contact details.
