How you can track your Canadian visa

Once you have completed your online eTA and submitted and paid for it, you should receive a confirmation email that it has been submitted, along with a unique reference number for your application. If you want to check the status of your application then you can do so on the website using the reference number.

It usually takes minutes for an eTA to get processed but sometimes it can take longer, so travellers are advised to apply for their eTA at least one week before they are due to fly to Canada, just in case there are any delays or issues with the application.

You can check the status of your eTA even to see whether it is still valid, as you can use it multiple times throughout the five years of validity, provided your passport is still the same one you applied for eTA with.
