What happens in a Customs Inspection?
When you pass through Customs the border protection officers will check your documents to ensure that
you have authorisation to enter Canada. The officers may ask you some questions regarding your trip
and about yourself to determine whether they think you pose a threat to the country.
Before you travel you should check the list of prohibited items that you must not bring to Canada,
including certain foods, weapons and illegal substances. All fruits, vegetables and plants must be
declared at Customs and they will be inspected. If you fail to declare items you could be subjected
to a fine. It is better to avoid travelling with any items you think could be prohibited or restricted
to prevent any issues at Customs inspections.
